BTW a lot of calipers out there for just E-Braking (R8, DOdge Viper, ETC) try looking into those for options. Logically, i think the standalone is easier since I can fill up the brake reservoir in the e brake then just run a brake line from the e brake and splice it into the rear brake line.

INLINE HYDRO E BRAKE INSTALL

Do it, post it and tell us what you think. I want to install a hydro e brake but I'm not sure if i should go for the pass through or inline hyrdo e brake. Most performance brakes that are custom don't have an E-Brake anyways, so the option has always been an additional caliper to support it.

I think it's more of a legal thing for the pro organizations. What he said. I think it's more of a legal thing for the pro organizations.įor someone who knows what they are doing, I don't really see this a major safety issue. The regular service brakes, and usually some sort of small Honda front calipers mounted back there using some custom brackets.įor someone who knows what they are doing, I don't really see this a major safety issue.

So you will see most (all?) pro drifters now running 2 pairs of calipers out back. This is obviously not possible with a hydro hand brake in-line.

The rules state that the foot brake must always, under all circumstances, put pressure to all 4 wheels. The reason being that while you are pulling on the handle, the foot brake no longer works the rears. Many organizations do not allow them to be plumbed into the service brakes. The implementation of these hydro e-brakes is something of a controversy in the drifting community. I don't want the EDL putting on the brakes while I'm trying to spin the rears, etc. Personally, I think I would want to completely disable any and all ABS operation while I was drifting. The designs are pretty simple, so you could definitely make your own with a little fabrication. That means you must use a dual Master Cylinder hand brake: The GKTECH hidden e-brake has been designed for those who want the instant lock of the rear wheels through the OEM e-brake. To keep it all working properly (including Electronic Differential Lock, as well as ABS) you must retain 4 channels. The only thing you can worry about is making sure the ABS works as normal whenever you *aren't* pulling on the handle. That's pretty obvious, though (and that's the way you want it anyway). With a hydro handbrake, your ABS will definitely not work while you are pulling on the handle. That bit doesn't actually matter so much because the ABS is definitely a 4-channel system. Not to mention being just rwd not having abs is going to kind of suck in inclement weather.Īs far as I know, the system is Front/Rear out of the master. Is our abs system FR RR / FL RL or FL RL / RR RL? I'm not opposed to totally deleting abs but all the line work required is kinda of a pain in the ass. Now the question with option 3 is will abs still function at all? The front should modulate correctly I'm assuming but what about with the rear since the lines are merged. (most work, lose abs, potential for failure skyrockets)Ģ- Buy a 2 cylinder hydraulic handbrake (Expensive, only one available, twice as many failure points, too big to fit as a vertical lever)ģ- Merge rear brake lines to one going into handbrake out into one splitting back to each brake.

I have 3 options for plumbing in a hydraulic handbrake.ġ- totally delete abs and run front and rear straight from master cylinder and figure out how to bias. So can anyone fluent in how our abs works can you chime in?
